External shear strengthening of RC beams with basalt fiber sheets: An experimental study

Basalt fiber is an eco-friendly and a promising material for the strengthening of reinforced concrete (RC) structures due to its various advantages such as low cost, better resistance chemical attack, good thermal characteristics higher tensile strength than E-glass fiber. However, only few experimental investigations have been reported in literature on RC beams with basalt polymer (BFRP) composites. Therefore, current study targets investigate efficacy sheets shear beams. Ten were examined under four-point loading system. The influence different parameters width, orientation amount BFRP strips, type schemes, (glass basalt) effect level pre-loading investigated present study. outcomes shown that failure load strengthened increased by 17–50%, whereas toughness enhanced up 2.74 times comparison reference specimen. In addition, it has noticed from investigation overall effectiveness increasing capacity 20% glass enhancement decreases increase preload level.
